On February 1, 2014 the DCBA took under its wings the Downtown Ambassador Program and the Jesus Center Clean-Up Brigade. Funds are needed to continue to support these two difference making programs.
The mission of the Downtown Ambassador Program is to create a more welcoming downtown environment for the Chico community. The Downtown Ambassadors is a citizen engagement opportunity where volunteers contribute to a clean and safe downtown. Ambassadors act as eyes and ears for public safety and social service partners by educating, assisting, and reporting as needed on various needs and problems.
Performing cleaning services in the downtown corridor, two hours a day, six days a week, the Jesus Center Clean-Up Brigade not only keeps downtown clean, it also gives hope! The Brigade, consisting of four Jesus Center clients, has brought the group into contact with many business owners, community members and other homeless people.
The Brigade exemplifies how collaboration among community groups such as the Jesus Center, the Downtown Chico Business Association and the North Valley Community Foundation can produce programs that simultaneously keep people off the streets and serve the community.

Christianne Belles, owner of Home Ec in Downtown Chico, is a positive individual whose life philosophy surrounds around being happy and making others around her happy. Her positive attitude is most evident and definitely contagious. She brings this same attitude to her shop, Home Ec. As a Downtown Business owner, Christianne’s greatest joy comes from seeing customers humor themselves with the products Home Ec has to offer.

Jamie Camaren, General Manager of the Hotel Diamond and Johnnie’s Restaurant and Lounge, has led an interesting career to where she is now. During her childhood, her mother owned and operated Swensons, a restaurant in Willows. At age 12, she had already begun waiting tables and since then she has always found herself in the restaurant business. Contrary to her experience in restaurants through high school graduation, Jamie decided to attend Chico State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Education—she wanted to teach. After graduating, Jamie left Chico to work for a catering company in Hawaii. Her time spent in The Aloha State eventually brought her to Las Vegas, where she continued working in the restaurant and catering business.
