A downtown pop-culture headquarters since 1993
A love of comics motivated the original purchase, but a love of games, anime, fantasy, and all-things pop culture has guided the store to become what it is now… the place where you can find unique board games; collectible card games; anime/manga plush toys, action figures, and posters; Sanrio & Hello Kitty merchandise; magnets and lunch boxes; Simpsons merchandise; historical replica swords, axes, etc.; dragon and fairy figures; and so much more!
Most of our customers know that BaT isn't just a store to us. We are huge fans of the industry and read many of the comic titles and play many of the games ourselves. It is a genuine pleasure to be able to bring these things that we love to Butte County and surrounding residents who travel to us.
About the Owner
BaT Comics & Games has been a downtown fixture since 1993, when Trent Walsh and Benny Louie bought out New Age Comics, then located in the Garden Walk mall. Eventually, Trent took over sole ownership of BaT. As an Army Captain (later promoted to Major), Trent was deployed to Iraq in 2005/2006, resulting in an 18-month absence, but with the help of his wife and staff, BaT persevered.
What do you love about being in Downtown Chico?
Trent responded by saying:
"BaT Comics & Games has always thought that Chico's downtown was THE place to be: a variety of shopping experiences, close proximity to the University campus, easy access from anywhere in Chico - a lot to appreciate. We're happy to be a part of this wonderful community."
