Overview

Join us in the heart of Downtown Chico as we kick off the holiday season with one of our community's most cherished traditions—the annual Community Tree Lighting! Since 1978, this magical evening has brought families, friends, and neighbors together to celebrate the spirit of the season beneath the glow of our community tree, located just outside the Chico City Plaza.

2025 Event Itinerary

This year, we are honored to welcome Chico Mayor Kasey Reynolds and our local media partners from The Blaze, who will help lead the festivities as we gather to celebrate joy, connection, and holiday cheer.

Enjoy a festive lineup of local talent and seasonal fun, including:

• Live holiday music from the Sounds of the Valley Chorus
• Dazzling dance performances by Ballet Chico
• Hot cocoa, holiday beverages, treats, and goodies
• Shopping booths, gifts, and festive finds
• Letter-writing station for kids—we'll make sure every letter reaches Santa's workshop!

And keep your eyes open… Santa himself may make a surprise appearance!

And to make it even sweeter…

To encourage shopping and dining downtown, the DCBA, in partnership with ChicoBag, is offering complimentary Candy Cane Shopping Bags to the first 50 shoppers who bring a receipt of $30 or more to the DCBA booth during the Community Tree Lighting Ceremony. Limit one per customer. Available while supplies last.
