Karl was elected to the Chico City Council in November 2016. He previously served on the Council 1977-85, including a term as Mayor. He maintains an office downtown.

Karl has led the effort to return dependable air service in Chico. Experts tell us this is worth $50 million for the economy and the key element to create and retain jobs.
Good health care and housing affordable to working people are important to create and retain jobs. Chico needs more primary health doctors.

Karl is a former Mayor, Airport Commissioner, and Silver Dollar Fair Board member. He helped create the Greenline (protecting agricultural land), the 20th St. Community Park, and the Chico bus system. He helped get the Nature Center built.
Karl has had a career in housing development. He has brought millions of dollars to the North Valley and helped over 300 families become owner/builders. He has also worked nationwide to help communities build housing that working people can afford.

Karl grew up in a huge family – the 7th child in a family 14. He works well in groups! Linda and Karl have raised two children in Chico.
Karl started his career as Director of CAVE and of the Butte County American Red Cross. He taught Political Science part time at Shasta College and has a Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from CSU Chico.

Last year Karl was awarded lifetime achievement awards from Butte Environmental Council and Butte County Democrats.
